"The 2020 Saar Riesling Kabinett Feinherb Scharzhofberger shows a very clear, bright and delicate, terroir-driven bouquet of crushed stones, quartzite and lemons. Round and lush but also delicate and with fine, vibrantly mineral acidity, this is a crystalline, very elegant, pure and salty Scharzhofberger whose mineral backbone takes away almost all of the sweetness. The finish is highly stimulating and mouth-salivating. 9.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 140 21 in November 2021."
"Clear, very refined and still reductive on the nose, the pure and crystalline, slatey and floral-scented 2020 Ruwer Riesling Spätlese Feinherb Kaseler Nies'chen is another highly delicate Ruwer Riesling from this producer. Piquant and vital on the palate, with purity, salt and intensity, this is a light yet also complex Nies'chen with grip and tension on the firm and persistently mineral finish that indicates great aging potential. Excellent or even exciting quality. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 135 21 in November 2021."
"Intense in its white-golden color, the 2018 Mosel Riesling Réserve Trittenheimer Apotheke aged in fuder for two years without any addition of sulfur except for bottling. The wine offers an intense and concentrated yet pure and spicy bouquet with lemony as well as some oaky notes. Full-bodied, round and textured on the palate and provided with fine tannins and rather gentle acidity, this is a well-balanced and quiet-flowing Riesling. It has fine salinity on the stimulating, fresh and lemon-flavored finish, which is rich and aromatic but harmonious and elegant and reveals fine mineral grip. Still young but very digestible. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 142 21 in November 2021."
"Aged for two years in fuder, the golden-yellow colored 2018 Ruwer Riesling Réserve Kaseler Nies'chen offers an intense and rich, almost baroque nose with ripe and concentrated fruit aromas intertwined with spicy slate aromas. Full-bodied, round and lush on the palate, this is a generous yet refined and elegant, textured Riesling with a long and aromatic finish that is carried by stimulating grip, fine acidity and lingering salinity. This is a mouthful of textural Riesling that already drinks very well, but it can be aged for at least two decades. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 143 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Spätlese Trocken Erdener Treppchen offers a clear, bright and intense, very slate-driven bouquet of ripe, elegant Riesling fruit. Fresh and vivacious on the first palate, with a nervy acidity, this is a tight, grippy and persistently salty, terroir-driven Spätlese with an intense and elegant, stimulatingly fine and crisp as well as sustainable finish. 11.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 129 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Saar Riesling Kabinett Feinherb Kanzemer Altenberg is very clear, bright, pure and refreshingly mineral yet still discreet on the light but remarkably complex nose that is reminiscent of perfume rather than fruit and a classic Saar representative. On the palate, this is a pretty sweet Kabinett that is less dramatic and filigreed than expected, and I expected the residual sugar level to be at least on the border of medium sweet and sweet. This is a charmingly round and fruity Saar Riesling from a spectacular, steep cru, yet the 2020 softens the edges too much for my taste. The crowd, however, will go along with this style perfectly, I assume. 10% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 128 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Spätlese Feinherb Dhroner Hofberger Alte Reben is pure and flinty as well as intense and clear on the nose that intermingles ripe and intense white-fruit aromas with notes of crushed slate and lemon oil. Lean but tensioned on the palate and with a hint of newer oak, this is a lush, almost dry, very mineral Hofberger with a crystalline and salty finish that has grip and tension. It's an impressive Riesling in the medium-dry style. 11% stated alcohol, 16.8 grams of residual sugar per liter. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 148 21 in November 2021."
"Still reductive on the clear, very elegant but stinky nose, the 2020 Mosel Riesling Kabinett Ürziger Würzgarten opens with precise and spicy, iron-tinted bright fruit typical for this spectacular cru. Piquant and racy on the palate, this is a vivacious, mouth-filling and very delicate light Würzgarten Kabinett with watery instead of concentrated fruit. The wine has grip and salt and is dry on the finish that tastes much less sweet than analytical figures would make you think. This is a classic Würzgarten Kabinett with fine, salivating grip and salinity. Fabulous. 8% stated alcohol, 47.4 grams of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 152 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Kabinett Graacher Himmelreich offers a clear and delicate yet still discreet and reductive bouquet with slatey, bright Riesling aromas. Filigreed and lush on the palate, this is a deliciously round, refined and elegant Himmelreich with fine, crystalline acidity and a perfectly stimulating finish. Not that sweet, rather at the border of medium to sweet. 8.5% stated alcohol, 46.4 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 131 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Saar Riesling Spätlese Scharzhofberger displays ripe, intense and elegant fruit intermixed with finely spicy slate and herbal notes. Lush and generous on the palate, this is a mouth-filling Riesling whose elegant and refined richness reflects the excellent water-storage capacity of the Scharzhofberg. I have rarely had such a sensual Scharzhofberger. The finish, however, reveals the finesse and delicate salinity we all can expect from this fabulous grand cru. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 149 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Kabinett Trocken Graacher is clear, round and floral on the charming, immediately attractive nose that intertwines slate and bright, ripe fruit aromas perfectly. Fresh and vital on the first approach, this is a medium-bodied, pure and complex, salty-piquant and also lush and sustainable Mosel Riesling from Graach. Excellent. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 108 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Feinherb Bernkasteler opens with marked and untamed sulfite notes, referred to as "spontaneous fermentation" notes in Germany. Lush and quite intense on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, round finely structured Riesling that reflects the great terroirs of the village of Bernkastel. 12% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted from AP 103 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Ruwer Riesling Kabinett Trocken Kaseler exhibits a clear, bright, fresh and pure, spicy-mineral as well as herbal/floral nose that is more stony than fruity and represents a classic Riesling Kabinett from the Ruwer. Filigreed, refined and very elegant on the palate, this is a delicate but also remarkably tight, intense and characterful, mineral-driven Kabinett with perfect roundness and Ruwer finesse. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 124 21 in November 2021."
"The 2018 Saar Pinot Noir displays a medium-deep garnet-ruby color and opens with a pure and elegant, slightly toasty bouquet of sweet and ripe cherries, black berries, smoke, forest floor, rose petals and general floral aromas. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense yet also finessed Saar Pinot Noir with a crystalline acidity structure and a stimulating piquant and persistent finish with fine tannin grip. Excellent, traditional Mosel style. The grapes are from south- and southwest-facing vineyards around the village of Kanzem, and the wine aged in traditional Mosel fuders before it was bottled with 14% alcohol under AP 178 20. Natural cork. Tasted in November 2021."
"The 2020 Saar Riesling Kabinett Trocken Wiltinger is intense and complex on the dense and mineral nose that represents the complex, often iron-rich slate soils of the vineyards around Wiltingen. Intense, round and mouth-filling on the palate, this is a surprisingly tropical-flavored Saar Riesling with fine acidity and a persistent finish. Very attractive. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 119 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Mosel Riesling Spätlese Trocken Trittenheimer Apotheke is clear, fresh and pure on the discreet but elegant and fine nose that reveals rather stony more than fruity aromas. Delicate and filigreed on the palate, this is a light and elegant, very charming Apotheke with fine acidity and stimulating grip on the finish. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 145 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Saar Riesling Kabinett Ayler Kupp opens with clear and quite intense, elegant fruit intertwined with crushed slate aromas; it's less reductive or stinky on the nose than the Mosel Kabinett siblings from the Himmelreich and Würzgarten. Supple and round, with vibrantly fresh acidity but also palatable residual sugar, this is a charming and pleasing but less exciting or mind-blowing Kabinett with an aromatic and piquant finish. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 138 21 in November 2021."

"The 2020 Ruwer Riesling Trocken Eitelsbacher offers a remarkably pure, intense and mineral bouquet with ripe, white seed fruit aromas. Lush and round on the palate, this is a light-bodied, charming, palate-caressing and finely mineral Ruwer Riesling with fine grip on the salty finish. 11.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 166 21 in November 2021."
"The 2020 Riesling Trocken DOM is quite clear and fresh on the fruity nose. The wine is light, round and fruity on the palate, finely piquant and lush. It's a charming wine to quaff for many occasions. 11.5% stated alcohol. Tasted from AP 151 21 in November 2021."

Eichelmann 2022
The 2020er Dhroner Hofberger Alte Reben Feinherb Riesling, as it is referred to on the consumer label (the reference to Spätlese is left for the back label), is an off-dry wine (with 16.8 g/l of residual sugar) made from 30-35-year-old vines harvested at 89° Oechsle and was fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in Fuder. Finely spicy and smoky at first, this off-dry Spätlese quickly reveals a complex and elegantly ripe nose of yellow peach, William’s pear, minty herbs, almond cream, and lime tree. The wine proves nicely juicy as it coats the palate with ripe yet elegant and light fruits. Its creamy texture is superbly wrapped into some light acidity in the focused and very long finish. This is a great and nicely joyful expression of off-dry Riesling.
The 2020er Erdener Treppchen Trocken Riesling, as it is referred to on the consumer label (the reference to Spätlese is left for the back label), is a dry wine (with 7.2 g/l of residual sugar) fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in stainless steel tanks. It proves quite reductive yet attractive as animating scents of minty herbs, white flowers, and smoke joined by clean and fresh notes of yellow peach, grapefruit zest, lime, herbs, and spices emerge from the glass. The wine proves nicely balanced on the palate, where a hint of juicy fruits is well wrapped into spicy and succulent acidity. The finish is still slightly tart but superbly long, spicy, and fresh. This is a superb dry Riesling.
The 2020er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett is a fruity-styled wine (with 46.4 g/l of residual sugar) made early harvested fruit at 82° Oechsle on vines planted in the Abtsberg section of the vineyard (above the Josephshof) and was fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in Fuder. Rather muted and non-saying at first, this wine needs quite some airing to reveal notes of pear, canned yellow peach, almond paste, greengage, star fruit, and herbs. it shows more presence and intensity on the juicy and smooth palate. Ripe and juicy fruits make for a very attractive and suave side. The finish is light-weighted yet nicely long and well delineated. This now just needs a couple of years to fully develop its complexity and integrate its sweetness.
The 2020er Kanzemer Altenberg Riesling Kabinett Feinherb is an off-dry wine (with 17.1 g/l of residual sugar) made from late harvested fruit at 83° Oechsle and was fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in Fuder. It offers a beautifully floral and elegant nose of orange blossom, vineyard peach, almond cream, grapefruit, and lime tree. The wine has a delicious smooth and suave side on the palate, where more yellow and slightly riper fruits make for a juicy feel. The finish shows focus and length, despite a touch of sweetness still in need of integration. This is a very nice light off-dry Riesling.
The 2020er Wiltinger Kupp Alte Reben Trocken Riesling, as it is referred to on the consumer label (the reference to Spätlese is left for the back label), is a dry wine (with 2.5 g/l of residual sugar) made from fruit harvested on old vines in the steep “in der Kupp” section of the vineyard and was fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in Fuder. It has a fresh, smoky, and restrained nose of herbs, anise, apricot, pear, and hay. The wine proves nicely focused and fresh on the spicy and linear palate. It leaves a direct and animating feel in the bone dry and intensely zesty and racy finish. There is still some tartness in need of integration. This impressive dry Riesling now only needs a few years to smoothen its edges.
The 2020er Riesling Trocken DOM is a dry wine (with 8 g/l of residual sugar) made mainly from fruit picked in Estate holdings in Trier-Eitelsbach and Trier-Avelsbach, as well as some fruit from the Mosel and the Saar, and was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. It offers an attractive fruity nose composed of Conference pear, canned yellow peach, lemon, fresh herbs, mint, and licorice. The wine is driven by zesty acidity on the straight and focused palate. The finish tastes fully dry as some bracing acidity as well as a hint of tartness brings everything in focus. This nicely attractive yet racy dry Riesling will best be enjoyed as of next year.
