Ayler Kupp
Ayler Kupp takes its name from the top of the hill, on which the famous steep slope oriented mainly to the southwest is located. The site, which looks like a whale near Ayl, produces singular, full fruity, and racy Rieslings.
“Ayler is one of the best vineyards of the Saar,” Karl Heinrich Koch said in 1897. That's right, because even in the "small" years, Ayler Kupp can reach its full potential.
Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier exploits an additional 4.6 hectares of vineyards in Ayler Herrenberger, an enclave in the large Ayler Kupp hillside.
