Falkenstein
A trump card in the valley
At the point where the Saar flows into the Mosel, people have lived since the Bronze Age. Affectionately known as "Konzer Tälchen" in the region, Falkenstein is now located in the Saar Valley. But it was not always as we know it today. More than forty million years ago, a circulation valley of the Saar River was located to the east of Konz. Nowadays, mainly Pinot Blanc and Riesling grow in the narrow Konz valley, which winds through the rock.
The small valley winds through gray slate weathered soils with quartzite sandstone. Wines from the Falkensteiner Hofberg have their own typical character: racy, cool and elegant. They have a finely chiseled crisp acidity. Falkenstein plays its trump card especially in warmer years. Then the rather cool site shines with its special spicy-herbal characteristics.
