GROSSES GEWÄCHS "Mittlerer Josef"

In our best parcels our Great Sites of the Saar we produce our GROSS GEWÄCHSE. Special care and precise selection are necessary, because only the perfectly ripened golden yellow fruit can be used for these wines. Thanks to their richness in mineral extracts and their dense fruit, these icons from our best plots of the most renowned Grossen Lagen are always a delight. As these are our best plots, the wines also proudly bear the name as an addition, thus announcing their special origin.
The parcel, which we call "Mittlerer Josef" among ourselves, is located in the middle of the core of the Scharzhofberg in direct extension of the farm to the top of the mountain. In this area, the mountain also has a small heat-storing hollow - in the cool Scharzhofberg site, this is an important indication of a parcel with particularly high ripening potential. In addition, the "Mittlere Josef" is located in the middle of the vineyard, which is spared late frosts on the one hand and drought on the other. The clay and silty slate of gray to reddish color from the Devonian, often weathered into fine slate flakes, as well as the extraordinary microclimate characterize the distinctive and typical style. The cool wind blowing down from the Hunsrück causes the grapes to enjoy a particularly long ripening period here - in the "Mittlerer Josef" an extraordinary wine is thus created year after year.
