Dhroner Hofberger
Romantic side valley
The wines of the steep Dhroner Hofberger taste like slate. These are not powerhouses, but Rieslings with elegance and delicate fruit. In 1897, the wine author Karl Heinrich Koch remarked, "Dhroner is one of the best vineyards in the Mosel." The very steep and stony slopes of Dhroner Hofberg are covered with trees, hedges, and shrubs. The soil consists of large chunks of mostly gray slate mixed with quartz and iron oxide.
