GROSSES GEWÄCHS "Im Wolfsberg"
"Im Wolfsberg" - The Kanzemer Altenberg is imposing even from a distance, because the long rows of vines stretch up the up to 85% slope as if drawn with a ruler. Red is the trump card: the sun-exposed steep slope is made for the cultivation of the finest Pinot Noir and so vines of this variety were planted here a long time ago. Our parcel "Im Wolfsberg" with only about 4,000 m² is located in the uppermost parcel of the Altenberg at the extreme northeastern corner towards Wiltinger Kupp. There, the soil is very poor, but the Pinot Noir vines cope well with this dry location. Some cooling is provided by the forest that starts directly behind the vineyard and covers the entire hilltop. The soil is well drained, weathered and of reddish-gray slate; an ideal reservoir for warming sun rays and thus optimal for the ripening of the grapes for our Pinot Noir.
